Hi friends! Business is really slow right now. Like, terribly slow. Scary slow. You get the picture! If you need any flowers this week, I would love for you to consider supporting The Elinor! Even if you don’t “need” flowers , but maybe super depressed from doom scrolling? Flowers can give you a great boost of serotonin!

Built in the early 1700s, The Wayside has been home to three literary families: the Alcotts, Hawthornes, and the Lothrops. The first literary site added to the National Park Service. The Wayside is the only National Historic Landmark to have been lived in by three well-known literary families. Their home and works span more than three centuries.

The Alcotts, who owned the house from 1845-1852, (before selling to Nathaniel Hawthorne) called it "Hillside." Louisa May Alcott lived here with her parents and her three sisters, Anna (Meg) 14, Elizabeth (Beth) 9, and May (Amy), 4. The four sisters returned to their childhood home in Concord, Massachusetts in Louisa’s 1868 classic, Little Women, where many of the events described in the book happened. ⁣⁣
