Recently engaged and trying to pick a date?
Picking a date is a big decision! You want to make sure you give yourself enough time to plan without having to feel stressed. Personally, I think 1 year to plan is a great timeline and I wouldn’t recommend anything less than 8 months if you’re wanting a standard sized wedding.
That said, when picking a date you should consider the following things…
1. Does this month/time of year make sense? Is it already busy with holidays or is it wide open? Is sickness rampant this time of year or not usually? Try your best to avoid times that will always be busy no matter what. You don’t want to share your day with other things or cram all the fun into one time of the year. Avoiding cold and flu season seems like a wise decision for you as the Bride, but also for any crucial people to be there - like your bridal party or your grandma!
2. Does this day conflict with anything else? It may seem insignificant to share your wedding day with a family member’s birthday, but I’d just avoid it if you can. The more space you can put between annual celebrations, the better
3. Does this date give you enough time to do all the pre wedding celebrations? Do you have enough space between events to at least do the Bridal Shower and Bach parties? Think about the calendar as a whole and what all you’re asking from your VIP attendees.

Things to consider when you’re thinking about your ceremony location…
1. Do you want a gap of time between your ceremony and cocktail hour so you can take pictures? If yes, have your ceremony at a different location than your reception space
2. Is your ceremony location beautiful by itself like this one? If yes, minimal to no decorations will work really well. In general, ceremonies are on average about 30min - you don’t need to do a lot to make it look beautiful and you’ll be out of that space before you know it
3. Do you care about the type of music you have? If you don’t mind having a DJ for your ceremony, then a nontraditional space works well. If you want someone to be playing the piano, it’s easier to navigate that in a church or more formal building
Don’t forget - you can ALWAYS make it happen, regardless of what “it” is. You might just need to jump through more hoops depending on some of the decisions you make along the way.

This couple made their guestbook personal to them while also tying it perfectly to their venue. You’ll thank yourself years later when you have special memories from people that are important in your lives.
My husband and I got married 8 years ago and it’s special to be able to look at the messages from people who are no longer here to know they got to celebrate with us and be a part of our big day✨

Truly show stopping in every way. From the ceremony to the reception, the castle elements were everywhere you looked and this Bride got to be a real life princess 👑

Unpopular opinion: Let your parents invite their friends⭐️
I know it’s your wedding and your day, but having a child get married is a huge milestone for your parents. Your parents want to show you off and celebrate with people that are meaningful to them too ⭐️
Now being a parent myself, I can 10000% say, I definitely want my friends to be there for all the big moments. Whether it’s a birthday party, celebrating milestones or being there when times get tough - my friends are the ones that see the high highs and low lows. Friends are required to get you through parenting, so let your parents’ friends celebrate with you at the mountaintops too⭐️

Your coordinator is your only vendor who gets there way before everyone else and then stays until everyone leaves.
They know every detail and moving piece of the day. They’re the ones helping other vendors when they have questions or your family and friends when they’re trying to figure things out.

Friday Weddings 💍
I know Saturdays are the more desirable days for weddings, but here are some reasons to consider Fridays instead…
1. Fridays are typically cheaper from a venue perspective
2. You more than likely could have your decor set up the day before instead of everything needing to happen day of
3. It’s unlikely there is a Thursday event, which means you could do your rehearsal at the actual venue instead of doing it in a makeshift space. If it’s possible, it’s always nicer to have your rehearsal at the actual venue the ceremony is at!

Recently engaged and don’t know where to start?✨
First off, congrats!! I know the planning process can feel overwhelming. If you focus on a few of the big things first, the rest will fall into place✨
A few things to figure out from the beginning…
1. Guest Count - how many people do you want to invite?
2. Venue - based on the number of people, you’ll know how big of a space you might need
3. Budget - don’t make any decisions before you determine what your ‘all in’ budget is. Costs can add up quickly and you want to make sure you’re moving forward with the whole picture before saying yes to something
Let everything else wait until you figure the above out. You don’t want to pick your dress, colors, decor, etc until you lock in a date and venue!

Kid Free Events✨
I’m not against it, but there are a few things you should consider before making this decision…
1. Will there be absolutely no kids or will you have some exceptions? Will you have an age cutoff or will you include your ring barer and flower girl?
2. Consider allowing nursing moms to bring their little ones - it can be very challenging to leave infants if you’re their source of food
3. What life stage are the majority of your friends/family in? Do they all have kids or is everyone mainly kid free?
