Today is my final day of my 24th year of teaching and marks running roundtrip every day to and from work, in all weather, for half of my career, 12 years! It continues to be one of my favorite parts of my day and I wouldn’t trade it for a Ferrari.

It’s amazing how education has evolved in a short time. “Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and they love to chatter instead of exercise.” Attributed to Socrates 5th century BC. Teaching isn’t without struggles but honestly I really enjoy my students immensely and while we have our days, I’m grateful to be a teacher. I learn as much from our exchange as I hope they do from me.

From chalk boards and no AC, thru overcoming broken neck, sprained ankle, broken hand (these didn’t happen running to work) to AI it’s been a journey.

Thanks to recent National Geographic featured photographer, and a Cincinnatian transplant as much as I, Romain for capturing the urban space, that is often wild. Summer adventures are on the horizon, chasing some of the toughest ultras and first trip literally around the globe. Got to go, I’m running late!
