December 7, 1992 began a journey I never thought would have such an impact on my life. A little one room store in Highland Lakes was transformed into a community where my children grew and customers became family. Dozens of our towns youth became employees, friends, and family. I’ve watched those young adults become parents and grandparents as I employed three generations! Together, we celebrated graduations, weddings, and birth’s… and together we mourned the passing of friends and family. This town will always be my family and my home town but today we move forward and spread our wings toward peaceful horizons. My dear ship, The HF&G, will be guided by my long time staff and a young Vernon Alumni named Dawn. Please show Dawn and her family the same heart and compassion that was shown to my family and I so many years ago. Now, my heart is full and I’m grateful for the family we have created in this little town of ours. Thanks to each and every one of you for your support, generosity and compassion. I carry with me all the stories we’ve written in the past 34 years and I cherish the friendships we’ve built. The story is not over and the journey continues. The winds have changed and my sails are full! God bless you all.
