I've enjoyed working for the Poinsettia Pavilion, and particularly Margarida Eidson, for a number of years. She and her staff do an amazing job of taking care of clients and turning a room into a magical experience for guests. They were my first client when I moved to Southern California, er Ventura County. Margarida is passionate about the Pavilion and the people it serves. I encourage you to visit the Pavilion website. The history is amazing. From hosting weddings and Celebrations of Life, to providing a landing place for those affected by the Thomas Fire, it avoided destruction through the heroic efforts of facility manager Hector Andrade, and many others. It's been a privilege to be a small part of its legacy.

Since we last posted the Offices for Rent ad in May, the available offices on the second floor have undergone some remarkable improvements, including fresh paint and carpeting in 2 of the offices. These are really nice rooms for a sole operator or a small staff, and are move-in ready for immediate occupancy.

We sold 272 tickets and raised over $13,000. With the Ventura Rotary-East Foundation matching $10,000, our community is donating over $23,000 to the Los Angeles Rotary Clubs, where 100% of the funds will go directly to the victims.

The Wildfire Relief Fundraiser, sponsored by the Poinsettia Pavilion and The Rotary Club of Ventura East, is being held a week from today (that's Saturday, February 15th) starting at 5 pm. at the Pavilion.

Over 100 Ventura County residents have already purchased tickets (which are only $25) to demonstrate their support for this important cause. There still is time for you to purchase your tickets and show your heart for those displaced by the many recent fires. All contributions of any kind go to fire victims. Additionally, The Rotary Club of Ventura East Foundation will match all cash donations up to $10,000.

The event includes free appetizers, no host drinks, a food truck, a silent auction and dancing to live music with two local bands.

The top image shows how quickly the many wind-swept fires took many lives and mercilessly destroyed the property of thousands of people from the Pacific Palisades to Altadena and many other areas in between and beyond.

The bottom image shows tents in the Rose Bowl parking lot for those homeless due to the Easton fire.

[Author note: As a child I can fondly recollect summers playing on a field near the Rose Bowl and riding horseback up towards the Jet Propulsion Lab (now called NASA), and down the Arroyo Seco River. Also, my family often drove through the streets of Altadena viewing the trees beautifully adorned with holiday lights. One of my good clients and friends lost his home in the recent Mountain Fire. All I can say is nature can be extremely destructive. But those of us who can, need to come to the aid of those whose lives are impacted. Whether it be donations or other resources (even shelter), please do what you can to help. And reach out to your friends and associates and encourage them to get involved. Thank you.]
