Looking for something fun to do? Swing by the Clark County, historic museum and enjoy a free museum visit just mention Bounce-N-Battle Party Rentals at the door.

: Game faces on. Roster pending. 🏈

Circa 1919, these hopefuls were trying out for the Vancouver High School football squad, and a very intrepid someone brought a camera along.

From the museum’s collection, the photograph catches them mid-tryout on a decidedly well-used patch of ground. Some are down at the line, others wait behind them, and one gentleman in a coat and hat appears to be keeping a close eye on the whole operation.

What we don’t have is the next page of the story. The photograph is identified simply as the “tryout squad” for Vancouver High. It doesn’t tell us which of these players made the final roster, who spent the season on the sidelines, or whose football career began and ended right here. And that makes this little moment especially fun to have.

More than a century later, we’re looking at a group of young men caught somewhere between “I’m trying out for football” and “I play for Vancouver High.” Somewhere after this shutter clicked, somebody got some very good news. 🏈

All week through Saturday, CCHM Small Business Member Bounce-N-Battle Party Rentals is helping us explore Hometown Gridiron: Clark County’s Football Stories.
Bounce-N-Battle employees and clients receive FREE admission to CCHM through Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026! How? Just mention "Bounce-N-Battle" at the front desk when you check in.
