The Silent DJ has been blowing up on FB today. Last night The Silent DJ rolled into Newport Beach to do an amazing high school dance. We walked into many 14-17 year olds feeling a little skeptical about what was going to unfold. With in minutes of us starting the place went crazy. Marty Glassman, my partner, and I had such a fun night. We played the Cha Cha Slide and this is what happened...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge-wEWOf96w =17

I'm a Girl DJ and Cheers Entertainment had an amazing weekend of events. It was a four day extravaganza of celebrations. All special in their own way. What makes a weekend like this so wonderful are our clients who without hesitation make us feel like we are part of their family. It is an honor to be our best for these really special people.

Wedding Wire has been a great resource for our potential clients to learn more about Cheers Entertainment and I’m a Girl DJ. It is especially great for both companies because the reviews are consistent with our philosophy. These reviews are usually posted a week or two after the actual event. Well here’s a new twist. The other day I received a notification from WW that we had a new review. I clicked on the page and there was a glowing review from a bride who’s wedding is in 2016! We haven't even DJ'd the wedding yet but she felt inclined to share her thoughts. This gal gave us a great review on the planning process. You know you are doing a great job when you receive high marks after the wedding is over. You know you are doing a superior job when you receive high marks right out of the gate. It doesn't get any better than this!

In the past couple of years I’ve noticed a sudden surge of past clients from at least a decade ago calling to book me for upcoming events. Today I received a call from a gal who booked me in 1993 when I first launched I’m a Girl DJ. I was the DJ at her nephews wedding and now she is booking me for her nephews daughters wedding. Is that just crazy?! We had a wonderful conversation reminiscing about that special day and I remember this party so vividly. That day I used one set up to do both ceremony and reception (in two different locations at the venue). So basically I set up and broke down a system twice in one day. I was still using one turntable at the time AND… I did this event by myself. This was just the beginning of my incredible career. The client said what she remembered most was that she and her family were able to actually attend the event and have the best time ever! She also said and I quote “to this day we have friends and family say it was the best wedding they had ever attended”. When I started I’m a Girl DJ, I had no idea how to run a business but I knew I needed a philosophy to stand by in order to be successful. I immediately created one that I have stood by since the very beginning. The first part of my philosophy is to have great attention to detail skills so the event will run as smooth as possible even when there are unforeseen circumstances (I have actually created an alter ego and her name is Justin Case). The second part is to give my clients impeccable customer service so they know that I truly care about their event from the moment they hire me until the very last minute when they come up to give me a huge hug. Clearly this has carried me through my 20+ years in business. It may have been a simple thought but it turned out to be quite an extraordinary action. I am very grateful!

About a month ago I got a call from a potential client who was inquiring about my services for tonight (a Monday night wedding). Of course I was available along with probably 100 other DJ’s in the area. I suspected I had a pretty good shot of booking the event because I was being referred. Had a great conversation with the groom but because we were so close to the wedding day at the very end of the conversation I made a hesitant but executive decision to quote a price over the phone instead of in person. When I quoted the price, the groom got quiet which is never a good sign and then he chimed in with sayings like…”Wow, I didn’t realize how expensive it is to throw a wedding” or “Are DJ’s really that much”? I got off the phone knowing very well that I was too expensive. Three days later he emailed me to say they chose another DJ. I don’t now if the other company was less expensive and the reality is I could have easily brought my price down if I really wanted to try and book the event but I just couldn’t do it. So you might be asking “What is your point Lisa”? My point is this. Monday is pretty much my only day off during wedding season and to work on my day off is asking a lot. It’s literally a day of recovery to recharge so I can give my best to the couples who have hired me for their weddings the following weekend. So instead of DJing a wedding and (to quote a famous poet, Pitbull) “work my tail off“ on my day off you know what I did? I spent a glorious day with my husband. We hung out doing things that were really important to us as a couple. Now that was worth every minute and I was indeed recharged! The lesson for me is this. Know your worth but more importantly ask yourself the question “What is your time with your family worth”? The answer for me is very clear.

You probably have three to four months left to go and now emotions are starting to build. There is excitement, anticipation, stress, wonder and quite possibly a little exhaustion from the whole experience. This is where you start tying up all the loose ends and hiring the vendors that you felt could wait until the home stretch for your wedding reception. Three of these vendors are…read more…

So my partner Marty Glassman and I have been promoting The Silent DJ for a year and 1/2 and it is finally coming together. Since our event in Mammoth these headphones have been making a lot of noise. This is our new promo which gives you a better understanding of what a wireless headphone event is really like. We are so excited about the future. Sit back and enjoy the video. It's truly amazing.
