I have around 5-6 shoe boxes filled with different zinnia “varieties”, from florets, dawn creek, and Blomma to small breeders, OP seeds from trades, and more.

Hello Spring 2027! 🌸✨

Yesterday and today we’ve set out to begin our Spring 2027 seed starting. Excited is an understatement!! I am trying a few new beauties next year.

Our 2027 plans include more snaps and more fillers. We are planning Orlaya, Bells Of Ireland, Foxglove, Snapdragons, and more. Such an exciting time here on the farm!!

Along with seed starting we are planning out our rows - walkways, row measurements, number of rows, and more.

It’s a whole lot of whimsy around here next season and I’m loving it 💗

This week has been tough 😢

On Sunday I noticed several of our blooms looking not so hot. They were partially if not fully eaten, only few at that time. Fast forward to Monday, it was much more than the previous day and we were able to cut anything. I could not find a bloom without damage! Today I went out to see if I could cut anything and my field is essentially empty, our hungry friends essentially cleared out my blooms.

Today I will figure out a plan and move forward with a positive mindset.

I don’t know what the end of the week holds, but hopefully by Monday we can have some bouquets out the door. 😊

We are so saddened to share 😢

It’s looking like we may not have a restock for the mercantile today or possibly even until Friday. My harvest has been cut short due to finding 99% of the flowers have a friend visiting and that friend is very hungry.

A majority of our blooms have been eaten partially or fully 😢

I will update here if I can find more blooms to take down to the store. 🌸

🌸 Throwback Sunday 🌸

I’ve considered this post for quite some time now, words to says, photos to use, and I thought why not start with where it first began…

This post is not only a reminder for myself, but other business owners!! This is where my flower farm began - three crate, not much knowledge to it, and a huge dream. This right here were the first flowers I harvested year one… many weren’t usable, many had diseases, but that doesn’t take away from the fact those few I found in this mix that were usable went on to brighten someone’s day. I look back and I see determination, I see long night, tears, sweat, blood (literally) and more tears (also literally)… however I also see goals, passion, and motivation to keep going because the what ifs are better than quitting.

Trust me flower farming tests you in many ways, you may find yourself getting stung by a bee and then lodging your shears in your leg at the same time, you must be thinking.

Did that really happen?

Yes it did and boy did it hurt!

I look back on the days where I scrambled to find flowers to fill my first two subscriptions because I lost ALL of my seedlings to mice. I drove and drove and drove and well drove some more. I see the young girl who dreamt and dreamt some more! I dreamt of rows of flowers and in my first year I found crates and a simple garden box. This year my dreams met the world and in such the most gratifying way! I got my rows - sometimes business owners get stuck in the money part or stuck in some aspect of their business that may bring them upset and the feeling of failure, but I’m here to tell you the little things help bring you to the bigger picture. My rows were a goal and that goal was achieved!

If you’re a business owner you’ve got this! Whatever goal you may have is achievable with determination and lots of coffee 😉🤣

While yesterdays restock wasn’t huge, you guys sure showed up and for that we are so thankful.
