The balloon garland that inspired it all!!!
My boss at the time, was leaving the company that she was in of over 15+ years. I asked her if it would be okay to host her farewell party at my house and she said yes! I was so excited because I immediately knew that I was throwing her a fiesta because of her love of tacos and margaritas! I had thoroughly planned out the event and researched, “How to create a balloon garland” on YouTube.
It took me all morning to set this up and I kept having issue after issue!
First Issue: I didnt have a sturdy backdrop. It was extremely flimsy and the minute the wind blew it would fall over. Hence the cement block on the lower left, holding the backdrop down
Second issue: It was really hot out!! At the time, I didn’t know about under inflating balloons and I thought , “if I over inflate the balloons the garland would look much fuller!” Boy was I wrong! 🥴. It was so hot that the balloons began to pop. I had set up at 11 am and went back in the house to finish cooking. 2 hours later this is what my garland looked like. I had not taken photos of what it looked like at 11am.
When I tell you I cried, I CRIED!!!!!
Third Issue: Not knowing about using quality products. This garland was an Amazon Kit I put together and used the glue dots that came in the kit. For some reason it was not sticking to the foil balloons and they kept falling off the garland. So much that we lost a Fiesta balloon in the wind.
By the time everyone came I felt so defeated and just disappointed that they couldn’t see what it looked like when it was at its best! My boss had made it to the party and said “Omg! Fortune you are so talented, you should do more balloons!”
Every doubt I had, quickly vanished and my love of creating balloon designs began.
Thank you Kay Rizzotto for that comment!
