Our honorees: Mr. Joe Jones, Ms. Narcissa Wilson, Mrs. Ora Clay, Myla J & Mr. Willie Mitchell. A special honor for Clinton "Socks" Sockwell, who has sadly passed away will be presented.

For many years, he was a crucial part of our Vallejo Community Kwanzaa. His spirited contributions to our libation segment were legendary, and he will be sorely missed.

There will be a musical presentation from the Nzuri Soul band. THIS WILL BE A MILESTONE CELEBRATION YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS!

Nine years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Slater and I were in DC at the time and were amongst the thousands of people outside the White House while it was lit up in celebration. It remains one of the most powerful experiences I've had. Prior to that, I'd always felt strongly that I did not want to get married until everyone had that right, and we got married the following summer.

I will always fight for inclusion, not exclusion. And as I mentioned at the beginning of Pride Month, we must never take these rights for granted. It's critical that we remain vigilant in pursuit of equality for all.
