Hi..Everybody...I would like to share a story about a phone book...remember those?

This Monday has been the topic of heated debate in this country and depending on who you talk to...the answer will vary on what the day means to them...we are surely a nation divided..

When I think about Italian and Italian-Americans heroes..I think about our Great-Grandparents,Grandparents, Mother's and Father's, Aunt's and Uncle's..Friends...those who came before us..

My maternal grandfather built our 2 family house in 1956 on the 900 block of Arthur St.

In 2026 when I moved home ❤️ to Utica on the corner of Mohawk and James St. I found a phone book from the same year.

My grandparents lived there with their parents at 644 Catherine St. While our house was being built..my grandmother was pregnant with my mom.

What I am saying.. is I dont need anyone to tell me who our Italian-American hero's should be or who shouldn't ...I already know who they are..

We are open Thurs-Sat until 8pm for dinner..We have some nice specials..

Hi Everybody..we have been watching the nightly temperatures..its been getting cold...so the fig tree that loves full sun..on the James St. side of the building..comes inside at night..

East Utica may not have as many figs trees anymore..but if you look around you can still find some..Southern Italians and Sicilians brought fig branches from the old country and settled them here along with their families..I like to keep them..as a reminder of this Mediterranean tree.. foreign to this soil, thrive under the watchful eye of Italian Immigrants. Here are some pictures of the fig tree ❤️
