ORCHID UPDATE!!!

Our beautiful showy lady’s slipper orchids are taking their sweet time! Walking the boardwalk this afternoon, there are many open orchids….about 20-30 feet away from the boardwalk! We are thinking that warm weather and sunshine next week will really get them going. Our orchid walk will remain this Saturday, May 31st, 12-2:00 with naturalist on the boardwalk. The southern blue flag iris are blooming and there are many dragonflies, birds, snakes out and about! But if your main goal is the orchid, you may want to wait a week or two before making the trip! Thanks!! (Pictured here is Grape Honeysuckle (Lonicera reticulate) growing along the creek. It’s one of our native honeysuckles.)
