Our Summer Workshop Series continues with 𝙎𝙤, 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝘽𝙚/𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧...? , a holistic and educational experience within the world of woodworking. We will explore arboriculture, Oregon Native trees, sustainable practices, and have a small round table discussion with contemporary/traditional wood artists, an arborist, a mill company, and a forestry professional.

Attendees will leave with new friends, a raw piece of wood to work with, a greater respect and knowledge for trees and vibrant forests, and tools for engaging in sustainable and responsible woodworking practices.⁠

Special Screening ☀️ Nancy Holt: 𝘚𝘶𝘯 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘴

July 25 - September 7, 2025

𝘚𝘶𝘯 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘴 is a twenty-six-minute film showing the making of Holt’s eponymous earthwork Sun Tunnels, located in the Great Basin Desert, Utah. Sun Tunnels comprises four concrete cylinders arranged in the landscape in an X formation, each 18 feet long and 9 feet diameter, perforated with a constellation of small apertures emitting patterns of light inside the tube.

As Holt describes in a 1977 essay, published in Artforum, the tunnels mark “the yearly extreme positions of the sun on the horizon—the tunnels being aligned with the angles of the rising and setting of the sun on the days of the solstices, around June 21st and December 21st.”

August 3rd / 1:30-3:30pm / Ages 14+

In this 𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙇𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 workshop you'll use recycled textiles to create a unique matrix that you will embed in varied paper pulps. The process will lead to the creation of finished artworks that resemble open weave or lace-like art, as well as sculptural forms created with biodegradable cups.

No experience is required, just bring a willingness to slowly create in community with your fellow workshop attendees.
