Hot take for brides: you probably won’t LOVE every single photo in your wedding gallery.

And that’s completely normal.

Your wedding gallery isn’t supposed to be 800 photos where every single image is your new favorite photo of yourself.

Some will make you gasp.
Some will immediately get printed.
Some will make you cry.
Some will make you laugh because WHAT was your husband doing in the background?
And some you might look at and think, “Yeah… not my favorite angle.”

Because you’re a human being having a real wedding day, not a model performing for a camera for eight straight hours.

My job isn’t just to photograph you looking perfect.

It’s to tell the story.

Your mom fixing your dress. Your best friend losing it on the dance floor. Your grandma watching you during the ceremony. The weird face your husband made during a speech. The hug you didn’t even know happened behind you.

And sometimes the photo that isn’t technically the most flattering photo of you becomes one of the most important photos in the entire gallery because of what’s happening inside of it.

You don’t have to love the way you look in every single frame for your gallery to be beautiful.

You just need to look through it and feel like you’re back there.

One day late, but still sending all the love to Alexis & Brian on their ONE YEAR anniversary! 🤍

It seriously does not feel like an entire year has passed since their wedding day.

Getting to photograph such a huge chapter in someone’s life is always special, but there is something extra sweet about looking back a year later and realizing those photos are already becoming part of their story.

Alexis & Brian, I hope year one was full of so many good memories, lots of laughter, and at least a few moments where you looked at each other and thought, “Wait… we’ve already been married a YEAR?!” 😂

Happy first anniversary, you two. Here’s to year two and all the chapters still ahead. 🤍

If you watched my promo video and thought, “Okay but who are those two?”… meet Mallory and Austin. 🤍

These two are getting married next June, and for their engagement session we decided to make a whole adventure out of it.

Since Dylan from Peak Media was coming along to film my promo video, and he also happens to be Mallory and Austin’s wedding videographer, we took full advantage and explored our way through St. Louis together.

We started at The Muny, stopped at Maryland House in Central West End, made our way to the St. Louis Public Library, and finished the night on a rooftop with the Arch in the background.

Basically, we crammed an entire St. Louis date night into one engagement session 😂

Mallory and Austin were up for absolutely everything, and we had SO much fun running around the city, laughing, taking photos, and getting a little preview of what it’ll be like having both Dylan and me there with them on their wedding day.

It was definitely a little more elaborate than my typical engagement session, but it made the perfect backdrop for showing what I love most about these sessions: getting to actually hang out with my couples, learn how they interact together, and make being in front of the camera feel a whole lot less intimidating before the wedding day.

And if this night was any indication of what their wedding is going to be like next June… I am VERY excited. 🤍

The last 24 hours alone have been a whirlwind. The amount of messages, shares, comments, and love I’ve received from all of you seriously means the world to me. More than you probably know.

My journey as a photographer has definitely not been an easy one. Nearly 11 years after graduating college with my undergrad degree in videography and photography, I don’t think I ever imagined I’d be where I am today.
It has taken a whole lot of blood, sweat, and tears. And I mean LOTS of tears lol.

But I am so incredibly proud to say that wedding photography is my full-time job. Not everyone gets to say they built a career doing something they genuinely love, and I don’t take that for granted for a second.

Well… mostly full-time. 😂 I’m also a mom, a wife, and apparently the unofficial technology department for Nick’s business because we all know how that goes.

One thing I realized over the last 24 hours is that a lot of people didn’t actually know that photography is what I do full-time now.

And honestly, that’s on me.

In 2026, I’ve made a really intentional effort to spend less time scrolling on my phone for my own mental health, but somewhere along the way, that also meant I stopped sharing as much of my work, my business, and honestly just my life in general. I want to change that.
Especially now that Savannah is back in school and I finally have a little more breathing room during the day, I want to start showing up here again. Not just to post pretty photos, but to actually let you into this little world I’ve spent the last 11 years building.

So if you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you.
If you’ve hired me, referred me, shared my work, liked a post, sent me a message, or cheered me on from the sidelines, thank you.

I may or may not have cried the first time I watched this.

Seeing Casey Jaye Photography like this is honestly kind of surreal. This business has grown, changed, and become such a huge part of my life, and somehow this video captured exactly what it feels like to me.

The energy. The people. The chaos. The happy tears. The little in-between moments. All of it. 🥹🤍

And a HUGE shoutout to my amazing friend Dylan at Peak Media for creating this. I gave him my business, my personality, and probably a slightly chaotic explanation of what I wanted 😂 and he somehow turned it into something better than I could have pictured.

Dylan, you absolutely killed this. Thank you for creating something that feels so incredibly me. 🤍

Okay, I’m going to go watch it another 47 times now.

This is your sign to have a private moment on your wedding day 🤍

And no, I do not mean you have to do a first look.

I am fully on board whether you want to see each other before the ceremony or keep it traditional. Truly, there is no wrong answer here. But if you know you want a little more time together on your wedding day, if you are both emotional, or if the idea of having a crowd watch your very first moment together makes you want to crawl out of your skin… a private moment might be exactly what you need.

It can look like a first look.
It can look like reading letters back to back.
It can look like holding hands around a corner.
It can look like a private dinner during the reception.
It can look like a quiet moment together right after the ceremony before joining everyone else.

These moments are so sweet, so intentional, and honestly so powerful.

Your wedding day goes by FAST. Having even a few minutes to slow down, breathe, and just be with each other can make such a huge difference. It gives you space to feel everything without the pressure of people watching, and those are often the moments you remember forever.

So this is me giving you full permission to make space for the two of you. Not because you have to. But because sometimes the most meaningful part of the day is the part that feels the most private.

It’s WAAAAY too cold today not to post some favorites from this dreamy Christmas wedding!! And by “favorites” I mean me staring at this gallery like... how am I supposed to choose?? Because truly, picking favorites from a wedding this gorgeous feels a little rude to the rest of the photos.
So here are just a few of the festive, cozy, magical moments from Meaghan & Sam’s wedding that I am extra obsessed with today. Honestly, if every cold day came with a wedding like this, I would complain a lot less about winter (even though it was not nearly as cold as it could have been 6 days before Christmas).
