Back in 2018, I had the privilege of capturing Abby’s liver transplant journey. Having worked as an RN in pediatric intensive care I’ve seen both sides of organ donation: the trauma of families unexpectedly losing a loved one and the abounding joy of families unexpectedly gaining a second chance at life.

For me, these stories are filled with nuance, beauty, and redemption.

celebrated a major milestone, 1 million organ transplants, with a beautiful project telling these stories.

When doing research for the project, they found Abby’s story online and I was honored to see it included in the project! I even had the chance to follow up with Abby and her beautiful family.
