ONSTAGE TONIGHT at 7pm & Saturday at 3pm: "A Sampling of the Bard," a lively journey through some of William Shakespeare's most iconic scenes - moments of laughter, love, betrayal, and wonder that have captivated audiences for centuries.

From cast member Sarah Searcy: I have always loved Shakespeare. I know people talk about the flowery language, but that’s one of the reasons why I like it. This is my first time performing Shakespeare onstage. It’s been a lot of fun, and I’m really looking forward to the play. I’ve love being onstage with people I care about, and people who all care about what we are doing. Our director, Tyler, knows quite a bit and is giving us some really good direction, but he’s also letting us have fun and figure out our own characters. Don’t be afraid to laugh!

Doors open one hour before showtime

Don’t miss “A Sampling of the Bard,” this weekend at the Foundation Performing Arts Center.
From cast member, Anya White: I love the storytelling, and the different relationships in Shakespeare. And it’s really funny! I wanted to be in this production because I thought it looked cool. I haven’t worked with Tyler, the director, before, and I was excited to try something new. I just thought I’d give it a shot! Everyone has been great to work with; we are having so much fun onstage together. Come to the performance, it’s amazing and fun! We are excited to perform for you and would love to have a full house!
Friday, September 12 at 7 pm & Saturday, September 13 at 3 pm.
Tickets available at the door, or in advance at the Foundation box office: foundationshows.org or 828-286-9990.

Rutherford Stage will hold auditions for “A Christmas Carol,” on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 pm in the lobby of The Foundation Performing Arts Center on the campus of Isothermal Community College. This timeless tale of hope and redemption by Charles Dickens was faithfully adapted for the stage by Diane McEnnerney. It will feature a large cast of all ages, though most of the major roles will be filled by older children and adults. While this is not a musical in the traditional sense, there will be many incidental Christmas carols throughout and there are many opportunities for singers of all ages.
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Foundation. No experience is required.
Performances will be held on Thursday morning, December 11 at 10:00 am, Friday evening, December 12 at 7:00 pm, and Saturday afternoon, December 13 at 3:00 pm. The Thursday morning show will be offered as a field trip for local schools. You must be available to attend this performance to be considered for a speaking role.

It has been quite some time since there have been any performances of Shakespeare here in the county, and Rutherford Stage hopes to nurture a new generation of both performers and audience. “I was not always a fan myself,” said director, Tyler Graeper, “but after working with a Shakespeare troupe in Fayetteville several years ago, I began to see that Shakespeare doesn’t have to be “high-brow,’ but is for everyone. I love the versatility of the works; that you can present it in many different ways that will resonate with a modern audience. This performance will not be focused on Shakespeare as a historical reference point, in fact our actors will be dressed in modern clothes, and we will have a sprinkling of modern music as well.”
