What does a wedding ACTUALLY look like at Downtown Social?

Well, here’s the gritty thing - we’re actually still in the process of bringing all of the weddings we plan here to life. Reason being? The venue…. Has changed. Completely in the past year.

Here’s a story that sometimes isn’t always told

Three years ago on August 1 we opened our doors to Downtown Social at

7 N Lowry St.
You know, the building with our old sign.

Last June - we moved in next door to what used to be Bridal Country and Wilson’s Photography
At 3 N Lowry + 5 N Lowry right next door

We moved fast, but underneath the old carpeting, the old insulation tiles- sat the beautiful base of what you see at Downtown Social now

✨hardwood floors that needed love
✨ original building beam work that needed paint
✨walls that needed texture and paint
✨ a vision that needed to executed on

I had a vision and somehow God put people were put into our lives that just made this happen.

With years of wedding and event experience before I opened the venue - I made design decisions on this building based on its original design and layout of “What works here” and it all came together.

It’s really made me feel confident looking back at how much change was orchestrated in this. But at the time - I was worried just like any other business owner.

The perfect vision crafters, the perfect people, the best friendships, and the most powerful moments that went from dream to reality. To be honest, the “luck” seems unprecedented still to this day. Which is why in my heart I know that this facility is supposed to be what it has been designed to be.

There is so much to this story that remains untold and one day it will be a huge part of my story growing as a woman owned business.

The vision was to create opportunities for women to do what they loved within the community on a scale that was realistic and meaningful to people.

And, it’s coming to life

So going back to that question of “what does a wedding look like” at Downtown Social

All I can tell you is we have booked 5 of these packages for content this year and at Christmas when we have content - these excellent packages will be expiring and going to their actual valued rates.

Thank you to all of the people who have put their faith in Downtown Social, me, and the vision for the community.

I truly hope that this project creates some of the best experiences with all of your loved ones for every season.

Sumantra, thank you so much for using our space for your retirement/ watch party for your experience running for the school district! It's always an incredible blessing when people in the school district want to take care of children in the community. You all had such a. Incredible group of educators and people rooting for you. - and I'm grateful that you all chose our facility to be the showcase for the event!

It’s so crazy how lighting can completely change a room.

How do we do floor plans with the most popular long tables? This is how we do it.

If you notice in the photos we have gaps in some of the areas where the legs are - for bigger parties will fill in the spaces or you can add more tables depending on how long your want your guests seated for and how many tables and chairs your want to decorate for

Ask us about how more seating charts work! Note * we recommend 1 open area for mingling and for this it would be the courtyard or speakeasy space depending on your setup and rental request

People ask us all the time

What do you mean by - we can drape the catering station and do a setup across the other way, well someone finally listened to us and allowed us to let our vision come to life and here we are with a draped area - making it optimal for your focus while the guests come in through the front for your party!

One of the biggest reasons people get stressed out about events is because people think they need to find the “perfect venue” before they actually think about their guest list.

In theory this may not seem like a big deal, but in reality - some families and friends are VERY particular about not getting an invite.

The guest count affects everything in your event - the floor plan, how long setup takes, the decor, the experience, AND the cost

2 pieces of advice BEFORE you decide to tour

Make a realistic headcount and then find a venue

THEN make a floor plan under RSVP’s or people you know who’ll come and just never RSVP like great aunt Eloise

This is by far the easiest option when planning an event if you are worried about telling people they can or can’t come!
