Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) bacon, diced
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cans (15 oz) of baked beans (your choice of flavor)
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the diced bacon until it becomes crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan, leaving the bacon grease behind.
In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion in the bacon grease until it becomes translucent and lightly caramelized.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, kidney beans, and black beans. Add the cooked bacon and sautéed onions to the bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Pour the sauce mixture over the beans and bacon in the large mixing bowl. Gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish or a casserole dish.
Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beans are hot and bubbly.
Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until the top becomes slightly caramelized.
