I bit the bullet this year and I am paying the sales tax rather than adding it on. Uneven amounts were a problem.

Pinching the tops off chrysanthemums and propogating them in water and now dirt:

Here is what appears to be working and keep in mind this is my first time of trying this.

I posted a while back about pinching the chrysanthemum tops off and then removing some bottom leaves and planting them directly in dirt.

They all went thru a bit of a process that looked like they were dying but after a few weeks of watering them, they are all alive and well. It would have been easy to say they died and have been done with them but I didn't give up.

Those in this photo I did a little differently. I took the tops and put them in water and set them in a mostly shade window for about two weeks. I removed some bottom leaves before doing this. I didn't see any roots growing but they probably were.

I direct sowed them in the little pots with dirt yesterday. My guess is, they will grow just fine using this method too if i baby them. I look forward to seeing which varieties I have in these.

I am guessing they will be available in 2 or 3 weeks?

Soon, I will have some chrysanthemum starts for sale. I have 3 varieties. I have to look them up for their names and I will have to see which ones i have from the pinching.
