The big projects were done… now came all the little finishing touches. 😂

There’s still more to do, but Lakou Kitchen Studio is finally coming to life.

Episode 8 👀

I thought a hidden spice-rack door would be a cool little project.

TWO MONTHS later… 😂

But eventually, I got it working—and it became one of my favorite features in Lakou Kitchen Studio.

Episode 7 👀

The cabinets were finally in… now I had to make the butcher block fit. 😂

After a little cabinet musical chairs, some nerve-racking sink cuts, and Briarsmoke stain, the kitchen was finally starting to come together.

Of course… there was still another problem. 👀

The kitchen is finally starting to look like a kitchen! 🙌🏾

I found cabinets at Lowe’s for almost HALF OFF during a holiday sale, so of course I jumped on them.

There was just one problem…

I didn’t buy enough. 🤦🏾‍♂️😂

By the time I realized it, the sale was over. So the cabinet hunt started all over again—and somehow, I ended up finding another set that worked for an even better deal.

But there’s still one problem I haven’t solved…

That doorway. 👀

The floors at Lakou Kitchen Studio needed some help… but the budget had other plans. 😂

In Episode 4 of Building Lakou Kitchen Studio, I needed an affordable solution for the cracked and uneven concrete floor.

A trip to Habitat for Humanity ReStore led me to glue-down vinyl plank flooring in Briarsmoke.

Then came the unexpected win: I found an exact matching Briarsmoke stain for the countertops.

What started as a budget flooring solution ended up helping tie the kitchen design together.

Are the floors perfect? Nope.

Did I probably lay the planks in the wrong direction? Yep. 😂

But they solved the problem, fit the budget, and kept the vision moving forward.

Building Lakou Kitchen Studio — Episode 4

Episode 5 is where this room really starts looking like a kitchen. 👀

We could’ve just replaced the old drop ceiling… but where’s the fun in that? 😂

In Episode 3 of Building Lakou Kitchen Studio, we’re looking up.

The original ceiling was under 8 feet, so I decided to raise it to give the studio more flexibility for future lighting and production equipment. Then came the black ceiling, DIY ceiling tiles, recessed lights… and another semester at YouTube University. 😂

Are all the lights perfectly straight? Probably not.

But they’re good enough to move on.

One more piece of the vision coming to life.

Real Space. Real Plans. One Epic Journey.

We started with a vision for Lakou Kitchen Studio… then demolition gave us a surprise. 😅

Termites changed the plan, walls came down, windows disappeared, and what looked like a straightforward build quickly became something much bigger.

But little by little, the vision started becoming real.

I know what you’re thinking… this place was perfect. 😂

But we saw something completely different.

This is where the journey to build Lakou Kitchen Studio began — taking an unfinished space and turning a vision into a studio where culinary stories can come to life.

And trust me… the original plan didn’t survive for long. 😂
