O' beloved Santa Muerte
By faith and love do

This prayer & painting are by Papa Ken for our ritual this coming Saturday honoring Santa Muerte, the most Holy Lady Death. She is a Mexican folk saint, not recognized by the Catholic Church, but beloved of the people. Many believe that she is an amalgamation of a pre-Christian Aztec Goddess and Catholicism created to hide the true faith of the native Mexican people in plain sight. Some say otherwise, but she is the most popular Saint in Mexico, only second to Saint Jude.

Why is she so special?

Santisima is the personification of death and death does not discriminate. She accepts all just as we are. No trespass is too great. No heart is too heavy. No wail is too loud. Bring her your sorrows and lay them bare at her feet if you feel called.

Beware, if you ask for a blessing or boon from the Holy Death you may well receive it, but you MUST repay her by honoring her with a gift of respect and gratitude. We will have an altar table ready for her at the bazaar where you may lay your offerings and petitions to this beloved Saint.

Give her offerings of candy, fresh flowers, food, alcohol (especially mini tequilas), colored candles, to***co, ci**rs, ci******es, and something to signify clearly your want, need, wish or gratitude made in exchange for a future promise. Petitions need to be clear and honest with why and what will be offered in return. Do not fail to keep your promise. She does not forget and may not forgive. As Death, she carries the scales of justice and the world in her hands. You will be weighed and measured. You do not wish to be found making promises you do not keep. In the end, we will all meet the beloved Santa Muerte. 💀

Papa Ken, known as Da Ghetto Brujo, is a local Creole spiritualist specializing in African traditional practices such as Hoodoo and Conjure. His personal practice involves venerating his ancestors, archangels, saints, and more. He holds a deep reverence for Santa Muerte as her humble devotee. Coming from a Baptist heritage full of prayer warriors, he frequently integrates scripture into his rituals. In 2020, Papa Ken achieved the rank of Usui Reiki Grand Master.
