🌸 Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from Clearview Developmental Services Inc. back to Lepley & Co.!

Together, they spent the day with Michelle from our team, learning one of the most important parts of floral design: properly preparing fresh flowers so they have the longest bloom life possible. From trimming stems to removing extra leaves and organic material, it was wonderful to share a little behind-the-scenes knowledge while spending time together.

ClearView Developmental Services creates an inclusive environment where individuals can build the skills they need to thrive in everyday life and within their communities. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations that make such a meaningful impact, and we always look forward to their visits.

We are so proud to celebrate our very own Dr. Michelle Fretwell, whose leadership, care, and commitment continue to shape not only the Lepley & Co., Northside Marketplace, and a Nomz teams, but the broader community we are so grateful to be part of. Michelle shows up every day with intention, compassion, and a deep belief in people, and we are better because of it.

It was an honor to celebrate alongside them at Trans Joy Akron’s Trans Day of Visibility and the Third Annual Akron Visibility Awards. Spaces like this matter so deeply, and we are grateful to be surrounded by so many individuals and organizations doing meaningful, impactful work.

Another Valentine’s Day is in the books for Lepley & Co. and ArtLan Florist. ❤️🌷

This one feels especially meaningful. Five years ago, for Valentine’s Day 2021, we accepted our very first floral orders from the Massillon Depot. It’s remarkable to pause and realize how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown as a company and as a team since that season.

Every holiday, once the dust settles, I realize I didn’t take nearly enough photos. No proper shots of the beautiful arrangements. No great team picture of the crew who made it all happen. But maybe that’s because we’re fully in it. Designing. Delivering. Problem solving. Making it work.

My favorite part, every single time, is watching friends, family, and colleagues step in and step up. It truly takes a village to create and deliver that many meaningful pieces in such a short window of time. The teamwork behind the scenes is something special.

With a heavy heart, I am sharing that my grandfather, Dale Lepley, passed away during a heart procedure.

His craftsmanship is woven throughout Lepley & Co. in ways both visible and deeply personal. From the Lepley name itself, to the wooden shelves that hold our plants, the wooden counter at Northside Marketplace, and the tables where we prep flowers at Art Lan, Grandpa Lepley has been a foundational piece of our growth. He and my dad spent more than 600 hours restoring the Lepley & Co. Depot, bringing that structure back to life with care, patience, and pride.

He spent 84 years building. Not just homes and furniture, but community, family, and a life rooted in service and care. Of all the beautiful things he built, the greatest was the life he shared with my grandmother, Miriam, who continues to be the heart of our family and the keeper of that love.

His life was marked by devotion. To his family and to his community, which he faithfully served in countless ways, from Cemetery Trustee to leadership roles across organizations that mattered deeply to him.

When I think of my grandfather, I think of his hands. Rough and textured from a lifetime of work. Hands that could take a vision and bring it into the world through wood, whether an entire house, a piece of furniture, or something small and delicate.

Some of my earliest memories are shaped by him. Wooden blocks made from shop scraps. A toy box he built before I was old enough to remember it. Time spent in his workshop, guided by his steady and patient hands, alongside the constant love and care of my grandmother.�
Love, acceptance, and grace were not just values he believed in. They were values he lived, modeled for my father, and passed down to me.

Lepley & Co. is looking to hire a creative Floral Event Production Manager to support coordinating, installing, and managing our weddings and special events.

The Event Production Manager will be responsible for coordinating the details of production, design, content, and development by working directly with clients, suppliers, and our floral team to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. This position requires superior organization, strong communication skills, as well as the ability to manage resources and budgets effectively and creatively.

This position requires two years of floral design experience, preferably in events and/or weddings. In addition, your portfolio or photos of fresh floral designs must be shared for review prior to an interview. We look forward to seeing your work!

Compensation:
In order to provide fair and competitive compensation for this position, pay will consist of a percentage of contract event sales in addition to an hourly rate. This would begin as a part-time position with hours and availability determined by leads and workload. As a company, we are dedicated to growing in event florals and will provide support and resources to market and develop leads. Additional, hourly work may be available within our day-to-day floral operations if a candidate is interested. Pay: 20% of project cost (10% at the time of contracting and balance upon fulfillment of the event) plus an hourly rate of $12 an hour for hours worked.

Requirements:
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in floral design. An eye for creativity, color, and design, as well as extensive knowledge of florals and trends.
Must have the ability to multi-task to oversee several projects with strong time management skills
Proficiency in Google Suite as well as the ability to learn and utilize new computer software programs.
Guest service mentality; is sociable and friendly and has a genuine desire to serve the customer.
Influencing, leading, and delegating abilities.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
Self-starter who is energetic and flexible.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Maintains a calm, tactful demeanor when dealing with difficult situations.
Prioritizes responsibilities to achieve results.
Comfort in creating estimates and calculating project costs
2+ years of floral design- preferably with weddings and/or events
2+ years of event planning and/or production
2+ years as a leader in event production/execution
