A wedding timeline helps guide the day and keep it on track, but some of the best moments happen in between everything you planned.

Somewhere between the vows and cocktail hour, someone at your wedding will need to become the temporary Head of Floral Transportation.

At some point, you’ll need to ask, “Who is moving them, when can they move them, are guests already at the reception space, and will the arrangement survive the journey?”

Sizing and placement may take a little creativity. If your floral arrangement is six feet tall, where is it going once it gets there?

Repurposing your ceremony flowers can be a great idea. Just make sure your plan includes more than, “We’ll figure it out,” at your wedding planning meetings.

Does a wedding tent ruin the pictures?

In our experience, the answer is “No.”

A tent can be one of the most practical things you add to an outdoor wedding, especially if Florida decides to contribute rain, heat, or (for bonus points) both.

The tricky part is that once a tent goes up, it becomes part of the scenery your wedding photographer is going to work with for the rest of the day.

Where the tent gets set up matters, and so do the shape, lighting, surrounding decor, and how much of the garden or lake view you can see around it.

When your wedding tent feels connected to the rest of the setup, it can all photograph beautifully. If it’s dropped into the first available patch of grass, it can pull attention away from everything around it.

We’re in Umatilla, Florida, about 45 minutes from Orlando and a short drive from Mount Dora, Leesburg, and Eustis.

Your seating chart can change the entire mood of dinner.

There’s a point in wedding planning when the seating chart becomes a very strange exercise in human behavior.

Suddenly you have to figure out where Mom sits and whether two relatives need a few tables between them.

But then you start thinking about everyone else.

Who is coming alone and needs to be with people who will pull them into the conversation?

Who could sit next to a complete stranger and somehow exchange vacation recommendations before the salads are even cleared?

Which friends are going to spend dinner counting the minutes until the dance floor opens?

Who can’t deal with sitting by the speakers, and which grandparents don’t want to navigate half the reception every time they need to get up?

So when Table 7 starts feeling like a problem you should have studied for, remember that you’re arranging dinner, not trying to crack some mathematically perfect seating formula.

You’re trying to give people a table where you know they’ll have a good time.

Wedding cake gets a lot more attention now than it used to, and honestly, we get it. 😂

Before anyone cuts into it, it might have its own table, florals, candles, and plenty of photos.

We love seeing how bakers work in colors, textures, and details that tie back to the rest of the wedding, so the cake feels like part of the reception instead of something that just shows up at dessert.

Adding more decor to your wedding can add a personal touch, but it doesn’t automatically make your celebration look more polished.

Sometimes it can do the opposite, especially if you try to decorate every empty surface.

It’s easy to get caught up in it all and add a sign here, a floral arrangement or two, candles for the tables, and something for the aisles and bar. Before long, you’re decorating twenty different places and wondering why the decor list keeps growing.

One way to narrow it all down is to think about where people will naturally look.

The ceremony entrance and the place where you exchange vows are two obvious focal points. Then think about where guests will spend the most time, like the seating display, dinner tables, bar, and dance floor.

Your photos can help you decide too. Which spaces are likely to show up over and over again? If everyone is going to see it, walk past it, or take pictures there, that’s probably a good place to put more of your decor.

If you’re trying to figure out how all the decor you’ve saved will work together in one space, bring your ideas with you when you visit Lakeview Gardens. Walking the property can make it much easier to picture where everything could go.

Some of our favorite weddings at Lakeview Gardens have been the ones that weren’t afraid to get creative with color.

We’ve seen peach with blue, pink with yellow, lavender tucked into unexpected places, and florals that bring several shades together at once.

Using color doesn’t mean every part of the wedding has to be bright. It might show up in a larger floral arrangement, carry through the tables, or add one stronger shade to an otherwise softer palette.

Our gardens already bring plenty of green into the setting, but there are a lot of ways to play with color without feeling like you have to use it everywhere.
