Helicopter Training – Lake Mendocino

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, in partnership with Napa, CALSAR, and Marin SAR, are hosting a helicopter awareness training course at Lake Mendocino in Ukiah, CA.

The three-day training will begin on Friday May 30th, 2025, and conclude on Sunday June 1st, 2025. The training will be held at the Lake Mendocino spillway and involve numerous helicopters from around the state.

The helicopter awareness training will include courses on helicopter loading / unloading, litter loading, hoist training for insertion and extraction, water rescue, wilderness landing zone selection and deployment, and airborne searching tactics and methods.

SAR volunteers from around the state have been invited to attend this helicopter awareness training course. Additional information can be found on the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue page: Mendocino County Search and Rescue
