Kind of a long post, but I really wanted to share James's story, as it touched my heart. I have owned our shop since 2019, and every year for Memorial Day and Veterans day, a veteran named James Patterson would come to our store walk in with the aid of a cane, as he is disabled and orders flowers which he would place on the memorial stone at city park in remembrance of all our Veterans. Last year he did not come, and we wondered about him, hoping that he was doing o.k. this year he called me, and said that he tried to get someone to take over the tradion but noone here at the American Legion would follow through for him, he informed me he has brain cancer and is living with his daughter in Nampa and couldn't make the drive anymore. So he ordered flowers for the stone for the next 5 years to be placed on the stone, he wanted to prepay for them I refused his payment and told him we would happily donate the flowers, he refused my donation and insisted that I charge his card as he said he is dying anyways and won't need need the money. It really touched my heart that this poor dying man who served our country was still so thoughtful of others that have gone before him, that he wanted to honor them with this kind gesture. Thank you James and thank you to each and everyone of you out there who has served our country you are the real heroes.
