Just after the private ceremony wrapped up beneath this juniper, it started sprinkling on the handful of us there. Ray and Alisha might even have water stains on their marriage license. But the overcast provided soft lighting and the rain held off long enough to have fun running around the greenhouse grabbing these cloudy portraits before joining up with the party for dinner.

I’ve been photographing and filming weddings for 7 years and having a blast. Being from here, most of my work is in Oklahoma — so at least some rainy wedding days were gonna happen. Those days and couples have always stuck out to me the most, so I sat down to think about why.

Not crossing my fingers that it rains every time I pick up a camera on your wedding day or that something doesn’t go as planned, but I’ve learned and seen a lot and can say it will be just fine if it does. 👍

We got to document a wedding for our good buds Joe and Molly!

First time in Vegas (for me) and the second best highlight was eating at the Taco Bell on the Strip. Truly living.

Took a bunch of secret clips throughout the day while taking photos and threw this together. (Also the track is so good and such a good fit for the edit.)

We shot our first Vegas wedding! 90 degrees by 9am was not cool, but apparently there’s a ton of hiking and natural locations around. Made it quick then headed for the chapel. 🎰

Hannah and Andrew took us out for our first engagement session at a bar 🍻

Alongside wedding photography, I do a lot of work with Tulsa’s local music scene creating visual content like live photos and music videos.

This is actually how I got started with my camera! Meaning I’ve had my fair share of capturing cantinas, shooting saloons, documenting dives...

But this was my first time for portraits in a pub!

Nikki and I loved it. Moody lighting (as challenging as it can be) + drinks all around made this session a blast. The weather was chilly (if you can even imagine that now), so I tried my first hot toddy on Hannah’s recommendation and it was as warm and cozy as advertised.

We can’t wait for Hannah and Andrew’s wedding for 2 main reasons:

1) weddings are a blast and Hannah and Andrew are so much fun

2) it’ll be winter again lol

I’ve still got some room for the later parts of this year and plenty space for 2023 weddings and elopements!

BRING YOUR HORSE.

I grew up with a decent fear of horses after an incident in Eureka Springs, but now we just call it a healthy respect. 🤝

Horses make for incredible photos and I’ve come to love incorporating nature and any kind of Southern/Western culture into my work.

I grew up in an agriculture town same as Nikki, but while she had horses of her own I spent my time on skateboards and never really messed around on ranches or anything until I started with photography (except that one blurry memory I have of being thrown into wrestling and tagging a calf while at a friend’s relative’s house).

Inevitably, clients just kept including horses in their shoots and I just kept pretending everything was fine. Lol

But while Nikki and I were building the van and preparing for our first trip out, we stayed with our very kind good friends Ben and Ciara on their ranch and I got a lot more comfortable around horses (even rode one nbd, see the last photo) and so I gained a lot of respect for the animals and those who keep ‘em.

Then those friends connected us with newly engaged couple Lane and Jamie, whose photos you’re looking at now! And with my refreshed attitude towards horses, I was very stoked when they told me they wanted to bring theirs out to the pasture and we got to make some cool stuff.

And I really would like to work with more horses or create more images celebrating ranching or equestrian sports or other things like that, I’m all in now.
