Our 2021 event was our highest attended event ever however it came with a lot of operational challenges. The largest was property damage. Despite our best efforts to cover up and protect windows, players were removing those covers so they could get better visibility of the field and then when those covers weren't replaced, those windows were broken by bb's. Grenades also damaged several windows.
The other big issue was from smoke grenades. We were able to hold the 2021 event with the stipulation that purple smoke would specifically not be allowed because there was a specific instance of this color damaging a specific building in 2020. This was the compromise we made with the venue to hold the 2021 event and still allow players to use smoke grenades but despite our staff's best efforts to clean all the smoke stains, the venue was still upset after the 2021 event.
We don't know how this happened, but some how a door on a structure was completely ripped of its hinges. That was a new one for us. There was some other miscellaneous property damage and we did pay for everything to be completely repaired but the venue doesn't want to go thru with the hassle of repeated property damage/staining any longer.
Currently, there are no plans for a 2022 CoA event in Waxahachie because the venue isn't interested in having us back because of all the damage.
We're actively trying to find new, unique venues and hopefully we can make something happen in 2023.
