Mark your calendars! On Friday, October 23rd, the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame together with The Kosciuszko Foundation Michigan Chapter invites you to the American Polish Cultural Center for a special screening of Jonnie. Celebrating Polish American Heritage Month through this powerful film is an experience you won't want to miss!

The Story Behind the Legend:The film chronicles Lynn “Jonnie” Jonckowski, whose fearless career redefined rodeo history. Using a one-handed style previously exclusive to male riders, Jonnie captured back-to-back WNFR Bull Riding Championships in 1986 and 1988. Last night, we proudly celebrated Polish-American Heritage Month with the 250 Years of America Celebration, Gala Event! Co-organized by the Polish American Congress – Michigan Division and the American Polish Cultural Society, this special evening marked a milestone commemorating 250 years of Polish-American friendship and shared history.

Alongside nearly 400 guests, we enjoyed an unforgettable evening featuring exceptional food, a silent auction, a celebratory cake, and wonderful dancing. A true highlight was the spectacular display of rare artifacts from a private collection—showcasing 200 years of American history, historical documents, and the profound Polish contributions woven into the fabric of America's 250-year story.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us and made the night such a success, with a special thank you to all the local Polish organizations whose strong support brought our community together!

Yesterday, we celebrated our 2026 Chopiniana event, and what a spectacular afternoon it was!

Presented by the American Polish Cultural Society, the program was guided by Zdzislawa Gumul alongside our Master of Ceremonies, Dr. Kazimierz Brzozowski. Guests were treated to an extraordinary classical piano performance by Cezary Karwowski.

Intertwined with Frédéric Chopin's timeless ballades, the audience enjoyed wonderful pieces by Ignacy Paderewski, Ignaz Friedman’s Six Mazurkas, and selections from Six Polish Songs arranged by Franz Liszt and Frédéric Chopin.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to: Cezary Karwowski, for making this year's concert an unforgettable success. Our Chopiniana Committee, your tireless work behind the scenes. And of course generous donors, and our sponsors that we can always count on.

We are also very greatful to our attendees and loyal members for your continued support.

We have been out in full force making dozens of pierogi—actually hundreds, and in all honesty, thousands—in preparation for our National Pierogi Day Buffet, next week on Thursday, October 8th!

We are a little old-fashioned, and we like keeping things the way we’ve always done them. When we originally opened our doors, our pierogi were hand-crafted by our most devoted and experienced home cooks, who would sit in our kitchen for hours making them for our guests.

Today, we proudly honor that heritage. We still make them by hand because that is simply the way they should be made! We are so grateful to our wonderful volunteers who keep this tradition alive.

If you would like to attend our Pierogi Buffet next week, please call our office to make a reservation. We would love for you to try all the wonderful flavors we sill be serving, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
