Summertime.
Only for a moment.

The air gets warmer
wrapping itself around your skin,
adorned with the start of a dewy sweat.

The flowers bloom.
Pinks. Reds. Yellows.
So much green.
Everywhere, green.

The neighbor is mowing.
That fresh scent,
that soft hum,
a sound that settles something deep.

Ding ding.
Here comes your friend,
flying down the sidewalk on his bike.

Family nearby, voices floating like songs on the breeze.

Run.
As fast as you can.
Laugh.
Adventure.
Be free.

Then pause.
Look down.
Take a breath.

In.
Out.
In.
Out.

Hey, there’s a worm.
What a slimy little guy.

A bee.
A butterfly.
A bird… or a plane?

Oh, how I wish
summertime
was all the time.

What feels like a lifetime already—
Moments I wish to hold onto
Forever.

Friends I grew up with,
Made core memories with,
Laughed with,
Cried with,
Learned how to live with.

And now…
It’s time to move on.
Life begins again.

What I thought was a lifetime
Was only a sliver on the clock.

Life keeps going.
And oh, how beautiful these years have been—
Filled with happiness,
Love,
Peace,
Growth,
And success.

At 18, you think you’ve seen it all.
At 30, your hands and heart are full.
At 50, your yard is blooming with the life you’ve created—
The lessons you’ve lived
And passed down to your little loves.
