Beauty, brutality, and the fragile complexities of being human.

Through haunting grayscale compositions, Julietta Malina explores the darker dimensions of the human condition, confronting violence, mortality, grief, and the emotional scars we carry.

Striking in both technique and symbolism, her work finds beauty in discomfort, inviting us to confront what it means to be human.

Experience Julietta’s extraordinary work in LAYERED MEMORIES at VEFA Gallery.

Opening Reception | October 10th, 6–9 PM
Meet the artist and experience her work in person.

On view through December 19. Artist talk to be announced.

Still Point by Daniel Gonzalez
Oil on Aluminum Panel
11 x 14 inches
2026

Set beneath a starlit sky, a solitary skeleton rests against a golden surfboard as waves roll quietly toward the shore. Through rich impasto and deep coastal blues, Gonzalez creates a scene suspended somewhere between humor, solitude, and reflection.

The work feels still, but not empty. It invites us to consider what remains when the noise disappears and we are left alone with memory, time, and ourselves.

Experience “Still Point” as part of Layered Memories at VEFA | Visual Experience Fine Art.

Surfing Sunset by Daniel Gonzalez
Oil on Aluminum Panel, 10 x 8 inches
2026

A multifaceted artist, Daniel Gonzales has carved out a visual language entirely his own, shaped by discipline, technical mastery, and a deep respect for his cultural roots.

His signature Calavera series explores the space between life and death through a sense of nostalgia, memory, and reverence.

Memento mori, remember you will die, is not meant as something morbid. It is a reminder to live fully. To love deeply. To recognize the beauty of a moment while we are still inside it.

Within each Calavera, light emanates from the heart, a defining element of Gonzales’ work and a quiet symbol of what remains after the body is gone.

Love. Memory. The soul. The moments we leave behind.

Daniel Gonzales is featured in Layered Memories, opening October 10th at VEFA Gallery.

LAYERED MEMORIES
A figurative exhibition of what we carry.

Opening October 10th at VEFA Gallery, Layered Memories brings together a powerful group of contemporary artists exploring one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring subjects: the human body. Rooted in rich traditional techniques, these works push figurative art forward through contemporary aesthetics, materials, gesture, and ex*****on. The result is a fresh, layered examination of identity, memory, form, and the stories we carry within us.

Curated by Jonathan Anderson, this is VEFA Gallery’s next major exhibition, and the opening night will be one to remember.

During the reception, David Gilmore and Paul Roustan will perform live body-painting demonstrations on models, transforming the human figure itself into a living canvas throughout the evening.

Featuring Isaac Pelayo , alfredo gonzalez , Julietta Malina , Paul Roustan ⚡️ Body Painter , DEBBIE KORBEL, ARTIST 🙃🙂🙃🙂 , Daniel Gonzalez , rei+art , David Gilmore , & James Alpert | Creative Director
