This weekend, our first couple will stand beneath the shadow of a fallen giant and promise to build a life together. Like the roots of this old tree, they’ll put down roots of their own—deep, steady, and built to last. Long after the leaves are gone and the seasons have turned, this place will hold the memories they make together.

Here at Cedar Lawn Farm, there’s something special about slowing down and letting the land tell its stories. We loved that this couple connected with the story of these roots as much as we do. Sometimes the strongest beginnings come from what remains after the storm.

Last night, Mother Nature reminded us who’s really in charge.

One of Cedar Lawn Farm’s oldest trees, a silent witness to decades of seasons, celebrations, storms, and sunsets, was brought down by the powerful winds that swept through the Flint Hills.

While it’s always hard to lose something that has been part of the landscape for so long, every farm has a history. This old tree stood here for decades, and instead of erasing it, we’re preserving part of its story as a natural art piece on the property.

Its roots, now exposed, tell a story of strength, resilience, and the beauty that can still be found after a storm. Much like the couples who begin their journeys here, there’s something special about honoring where you’ve been while embracing what’s next.

We are doing our best to preserve these roots because they tell a story—much like your love story. Deeply rooted, weathering life’s storms, growing through every season, and standing strong through the years. We believe there’s beauty in that, and we’re excited to give this piece of Cedar Lawn Farm a new purpose for generations to come.

The farm may look a little different today, but its heart remains the same—wildly beautiful, deeply rooted, and full of stories waiting to be told.
