Now Hiring at Board & Barrel Wine Bar 🍷
We're assembling a small, deliberate team for a new concept in Topeka — an intimate, ingredient-driven wine bar built on craft and quiet confidence. We're looking for people who treat this work as a discipline.
Sous Chef — Second-in-command to Chef Trejor. You'll co-author the menu, lead nightly service, and uphold the standard that defines the room. Strong fundamentals are non-negotiable: knife work, sauce work, sourcing instincts, and an eye for plating. Prior sous or strong line experience in scratch kitchens expected.
Culinary Assistant — A versatile, service-minded role for someone fluent in the entire restaurant. Primarily kitchen-based, but expected to step into the dining room, behind the bar, or onto expo when the moment demands it. Composure, awareness, and a no-ego mentality required.
Prep Cook — The foundation of every service. Charcuterie and cheese board construction, lunch and dinner mise en place, stocks and dressings. Knife skills, organization, and obsessive consistency are essential. Slow, repetitive, quietly important work.
Bartender — We're handing the bar program to the right person. You'll build the cocktail list, develop seasonal menus, and shape the program alongside our wine offering. Classical foundations expected, strong palate required, clear point of view as a maker. Bring a portfolio of original specs.
Server — Substance over polish — though we want both. Guide guests through our wine list with confidence, articulate pairings, and read the room. Working wine knowledge required; WSET, somm coursework, or fine-dining background a strong plus.
