I know many of you have been asking about Plouf Plouf… I haven't been able to bring myself to compose this post. Not because of what I want to say but because of the intensely personal experience my son and I are moving through.
After a very brief and accelerated illness, my beautiful, magnanimous husband, Chef Mario Molliere, passed away early March. He was 54 years old.
I have never met anyone like Mario. Accomplished, masterful, worldly, bold, big hearted, sentimental, adorable.. difficult, stubborn, impatient, a prolific swearer, independent, blunt, an instigator.. he was a fascinating contradiction of a 3 Michelin starred French Master Chef who humbly enjoyed stuffing himself with a fat Longhorn steak, loaded baked potato & a Coke. I was always in awe of his achievements and experiences often telling people he has done more in this one life than most would do in two. Yet, what I came to learn over almost 17 years together, is that what was the most meaningful to Mario is us. Having his own family, to love and appreciate him unconditionally, to be by his side, no matter how he showed up. This was his greatest comfort and creation.
There is no Plouf Plouf without Mario. We built every inch of this beloved endeavor together. Mon dieu! The stories and memories! I would like to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for the very special staff we have had as integral parts of the Plouf family over the last 13 years, as well as to all of you who “got” what we were doing and embraced us with passion and sincerity. I half joke with our son, “what are we going to eat now?” Mario was truly a legend, a genius and an unparalleled experience for which we are deeply grateful.
We love you so much honey.
Bonne nuit Plouf Plouf.
