An Update on the Eastlake Railyard 💜
First and foremost, we want to say how incredibly grateful we are to everyone who came out and supported the Railyard. Watching families, friends and neighbors gather, enjoy the music, support local vendors and simply spend time together was exactly what we hoped this little space could become.
A special thank you to every musician and band who shared their talent with us. Some performed for little or no compensation simply because they believed in what we were trying to create and wanted to help bring the community together. We will never forget that generosity or the incredible music you brought to Eastlake.
We are also incredibly thankful to everyone who helped us support Food For Hope and That’s How I Roll Foundation, and to Satire Brewery for providing the b**r, allowing 100% of the b**r sales to go directly to our two nonprofit partners.
To everyone who pulled up a chair, brought their family, danced to the music, supported a vendor, grabbed some BBQ, bought a b**r or simply stopped by — thank you. You are what made the Railyard special.
Unfortunately, this is not how we hoped our season would end, and we want everyone to understand why we will not be continuing.
On September 17, the City revoked the authorization allowing alcohol at the Railyard. The City’s letter cites concerns involving alcohol, trash and the portable toilets.
After receiving the letter, we watched the September 15 City Council Planning Session and learned during that meeting that the sound limit being discussed for our location was 50 dB after 7 p.m.
We had been monitoring and recording our sound levels every evening because our understanding was that we needed to stay below 80 dB. Until that meeting, we had not been made aware that the limit we were working from was incorrect. Once we learned the correct limit, we immediately canceled our remaining bands. We could not knowingly bring them back and continue at sound levels we now understood were outside the ordinance.
There were also several statements made during the meeting that we strongly disagree with and believe do not accurately reflect what occurred. We could respond to each one, but we would rather let everyone watch the meeting, hear what was said and draw their own conclusions.
We do think it is important to mention that during that same discussion, City staff confirmed that the photos and videos we provided showed the site had been cleaned up and that the portable toilets were being cleaned and locked according to the permit requirements.
The Railyard discussion begins around 2:58:00:

This was a trial and something new for all of us, and we learned along the way. When we learned something needed to be done differently, we did our best to address it immediately.
At the same time, we believe the full story deserves to be heard. We encourage anyone who wants to understand what happened to watch the discussion and draw their own conclusions.
We’ll remember the music, the laughter, the kids playing, the new friendships and seeing neighbors come together. That is what the Railyard was about to us.
Please continue to follow us as we search for a new location where we can continue this dream — bringing families, neighbors, local businesses and musicians together while giving back to the communities we are fortunate enough to be a part of.
We truly believe there is a place for what we were building, and we hope all of you will come along with us wherever this journey takes us next.
Thank you 😊
