Sunflower - symbolizing happiness, loyalty, and adoration according to google definition
They stand tall on thick stalks. They turn to face the sun and in return, they mirror the sun in their likeness - bold, bright, and warm
They produce seed that spread in abundance
We have been exploring this sunflower field as a family for a week now. Watching the clouds go from grey to gold and then blue as the sun goes down behind them. Picking up rocks in the fields with Lane - I come back to them each night and can’t get enough of their color lining the landscapes around us.
They remind me of life a little and what it looks like to follow Jesus. As we turn towards Him, we should begin to look like Him. People should know us by how we reflect His goodness and grace. How well we exude His fruits of the spirit. How those characteristics should be in abundance in our lives. Love, joy, peace, patience, long suffering.
Sunflowers don’t last long in their bloom. When their seeds are produced, they whither down back into the ground and to dust they return. And when we have run our race of life, like a day in the eyes of God, we also return to the dust of the earth
Sunflowers remind me to look like Jesus. The more I behold his face and turn to him, the taller and thicker my stalk grows and the more I look like Him. They also remind me that life is short. Our bold blooms don’t last long.
