What a great PINK day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month .

Remembering Thomasville Woman’s Club member Ida Lee Brinkley. We’re sure she went to heaven with her high heels on. 👠

June 10, 1934- October 9, 2025

Ida was a graduate of High Point College and was an educator for over 60 years, teaching full time and as a substitute teacher in High Point, Thomasville, Randolph and Davidson County school systems. She was a member of the NCAE/NEA (High Point Chapter), NCAE President, member of Retired School Teacher’s Association, Retired Governmental Employees Association, Captain in Davidson County’s Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol and a five-year volunteer at Community General Hospital.

Ida was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville since 1960 where she served in many roles, such as an Interpreter to the Deaf for 16 years, Deaf WMU and Deaf Sunday School, Personal Committee, Youth Choir Director, Deaf Ministry Coordinator and a representative of region 5 at the Baptist State Convention.

Ida was a member of Thomasville Women’s Club, Thomasville Business and Professional Women’s Organization, Past President and State District Director. She was 1983 Woman of the Year, the BPW Northern Area VP, on the BPW Board of Directors, State Nominating Committee Charman and involved in the planning committee for the BPW state convention. She was also Ms. Senior Davidson County, Ms. Senior South Carolina, and Ms. Senior America.

She enjoyed knitting, vacationing with her family, cooking, and reading. In addition to her hobbies, she worked with Dalton Myers Oil Company and was also a manager of T. Austin Finch Auditorium in Thomasville.

On June 20, 1958, Ida married Rev. Van Ellis Brinkley and they enjoyed 59 years together.

The Martin Luther King Social Action Committee invites you to join us for a Candidates Symposium on Thursday, September 18th at 7PM. This event will feature all candidates running for positions in this year’s election, giving our community the opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to serve.

We are so excited for the first meeting of our 2025-2026 Woman’s Club year.

Are you looking to join a community of women focused on giving back and having a great time?

Any woman of the Thomasville, NC area who is interested in promoting the objectives of this Club is eligible for membership.

Join us Tuesday, September 9, 11:30 for lunch and music by Sawyer White-Miller.

Dues are $25 for the year, and lunch is $15, cash or check. Reservations are due by Friday 9/5 noon to [email protected]

Our charity for this year is Cooperative Community Ministry (CCM). We will take up a monetary donation for them.

This month as an outreach project to Student Services/ m Guidance Office Thomasville High School we will be collecting the following items: pads, tampons, chapstick, hair ties, chewing gum (individual wrapped), snacks and/or candy and individual kleenex packs, travel size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and hand lotion, nail clippers, baby powder (travel size), brushes/combs, soap/body wash (travel size) or bar soap. There is a box available in the ballroom for collecting any of these items.

Thank YoU for an AwEsOmE 1st half of 2o25 🤓🎉💚 Whew y'all have kept us busy...and we're so graTeful! We hope to see y'all for weddings, birthdays, showers, tea parties, holiday gatherings, Estelle’s Gift Shop, Dewey's, bingos, the Sunday Buffet, and more for this 2nd half of 2025.

We will be hosting Thanksgiving lunch at the club this year. A holiday pop-up market is coming too.
