Our Story

South Eden Plantation is a historic, boutique hotel and wedding/event center set in the heart of the South. We also host an open to the public dining experience, “Cream of the Crop Cafe and Wine Bar”, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

We welcome visitors and travelers, alike, to stay in our unique overnight accommodations in the Main House, Daughter’s Wing, and original cottages offering a variety of guest suites throughout the 38 acre property.

We welcome you to host any of your special occasions at South Eden Plantation as we offer a variety of venues and additions for any wedding or event. With amenities and accommodations for groups small and large, South Eden is the ideal place for celebration, memories, and unique experiences for each and every guest.

MEET THE OWNER

Born in Macon, Georgia, Ms. Kim was always guided by her faith in God as He carved out the path for her life. She fell in love with the Melhana property, on her first visit. Her vision for the property was made clear by God, who directed Ms. Kim in the ways needed to take care of the archaic land. Although, the property was damaged, the history in each building laid present, filling every part of her with an unimaginable desire to safeguard what was left of this grand historical place. Ms. Kim thoughtfully planned to repair and protect the historical buildings that had long been neglected.

Her mission was to restore the acreage as well as build new features to each building that would create renewed purpose for the property to be enjoyed by all who visit. What once was a crumbling estate soon became a restoration project far more intricate and elaborate than some could imagine. A vision to create a safe haven in which individuals can find peace, healing, and happiness as well as share experiences that remain a part of South Eden’s history forever. This revelation took root for five years as Ms. Kim, her family, and the rest of the South Eden team dedicated their time to such a delicate and important mission.

Finally, the hard work revealed successful as South Eden Plantation opened to the public for the first time in five years, on January 23, 2017. After years of delicate and extraordinary renewal the South Eden family works to uphold the same principles of faith, hard work, dedication, and vision it was founded on, each and every day.
