A little mystery from The Ohio Building…

It is believed that our Billiard Room was once a speakeasy during the Prohibition era.

According to the story, alcohol was brought up the back stairway—once located in what is now the elevator hallway—and passed through the small door that still remains on the north wall of the Billiard Room.

Today, that little door is a reminder of a very different time in The Ohio Building’s history.

Did you know The Ohio Building was once home to Hotel Tuller?

Originally constructed as two separate buildings, the building’s second floor was transformed into a 40-room hotel in 1913. Hotel Tuller welcomed guests for nearly four decades, remaining in operation until 1952.

Today, you can still find pieces of that history throughout The Ohio Building — including the original hotel check-in desk and two of the original room keys, still hanging on the wall.

We love these little reminders of the people, businesses, and stories that came before us.
