My friend Brittany Molinder owns Java Haute and has created what is one of my favorite places here in Terre Haute. 95% of the graphics and flyers you saw from me and The Verve over the past few years were created sitting (with terrible posture of course) here and working. Support local in the good times and even more when they're going through it. I'll be by as soon as they re-open to give them my support. You should do the same.
😔 CLOSED THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 😔
This week continues to be a small business, and small business owner’s, worst nightmare: an unpredictable and unavoidable closure. I wanted to share a full update & some transparency about what happened and our plans to reopen.
On Tuesday, we opened to extremely low-to-zero water pressure and ultimately made the decision to close. Unfortunately, our water softener malfunctioned and essentially imploded internally, flooding & blocking all of our water lines. SUPREME Heating and Cooling LLC has been absolutely AMAZING working yesterday and today to clear our lines so we didn’t have to replace all of the water lines.
Good news: all of our lines have been cleared!
Bad news: we need new water filtration systems to reopen
We quickly connected with Culligan of Terre Haute, who came in to assess our needs and get new equipment ordered. Our hope is to have the new filtration systems installed tomorrow afternoon and reopen as soon as we are able to after that.
As a business owner, this is hard. But I’m more upset on behalf of my staff and our customers. Our team genuinely loves seeing all of you, and seeing the disappointment on customers’ faces when they saw the closure signs is never the experience or service we want to provide.
As an owner, one of my biggest goals is always to put systems & preventative maintenance in place to avoid situations like this. Unfortunately, sometimes even the best-laid plans don’t prevent the things you simply cannot predict.
And while this closure has been incredibly frustrating, we are also incredibly lucky to have the best and most supportive customers, that has meant more to us than words can really express. Please know that my team has missed all of you just as much as you have missed them. This closure has been difficult for them, too. They miss the conversations, the familiar faces, and simply being at Java with all of you.
We are doing everything in our power to reopen as soon as possible, and we will keep you updated as we know more. Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and most of all, for continuing to show up for our business, even when we can't open our doors. -Brittany
