✨Arcadia’s versatility is on full display.

We’ve been busy preparing Arcadia Theatre for the Ben Milam Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as they welcome members to Temple for the District V Workshop.

It’s always great to see the theatre take on a different look for each event, from the main floor setup to registration and all the thoughtful details throughout the space.

There’s something special about welcoming a group dedicated to preserving Texas history into a theatre that has been part of Temple’s story for generations.

✨ ARCADIA ARCHIVES ✨
The History Behind the Chairs 🪑

Even the original chairs at the Arcadia were something special.

Early Arcadia materials describe seating designed with curved backs for more elbow room and ventilation, deep box spring seats for comfort, and carefully shaped sides to help protect guests’ clothing.

Style mattered too. The blue chair backs, gray armrests, and seat cushions were selected to complement the auditorium.

Although the complete original chairs are no longer here, two of their decorative sides remain at the Arcadia, giving us a small glimpse into what the theatre looked like years ago.

The energy inside the Arcadia last week was something special.

From sharing your ideas to signing up to volunteer, your enthusiasm was inspiring. Live music, comedy shows, movie nights, and community theatre all sparked excitement and reminded us just how much is possible at the Arcadia.

Those conversations haven’t stopped, nor have we.

Stay tuned. Arcadia Temple is just getting started.
