Yesterday wasn’t JUST about creating a beautiful tablescape and wedding design for Annie and Cameron wedding, it was about working together with their family, venue team, and the other vendors to think of solutions, strategize and work together when one of the key vendors was over three and a half hours LATE!!! Pushing the ceremony back 45 minutes!!!
When the vendor did arrive…. After being stuck in ‘traffic’ ( although she never communicated, wouldn’t answer her phone and had zero hustle then when she actually did arrive ) it was ALL hands on deck to get the bride and bridal party their bouquets ( which were not even what she ordered!) the ceremony set up, and then the tablescape floral set ( in which the LED candles arrived without batteries! ) we did whatever it took to make everything come together.
As a business owner and professional, I have never seen something like that happen… and it brought so many points up, for example, when the mother of the groom said, “Oh my gosh, Vanessa, you’re still here?!?” my only reply was, “Absolutely! I could never leave your family’s wedding in the middle of this type of situation!” I was staying to make sure everything was 100% finished… Not just my portion… Because it’s not just what I was responsible for, we are a TEAM of vendors that bring the wedding vision to life, and when bad things happen, or life happens, we need to jump in and support whenever possible…. For however, long it takes to make it right.
And that’s always been a guiding light of what I stand by in my business, it’s not even something I talk about very often, but what sets me apart from other Wedding and Event Planners is that when issues pop up, last-minute requests are made, or out of the box ideas are on the vision board… I will do WHATEVER it takes to make it happen! Late nights, early mornings, staying hours overtime, spending the extra money, having the extra staff, going the extra mile… whatever it is to make my clients experience exactly what they were hoping for and more!
