So I was on Spotify on Friday and I happened to see this pop-up as a new album release. At first, I thought this was some kind of re-issue or it was Sheena Easton releasing a new album. However, as I’ve been digging all weekend, this is an official digital release dating back to 1986.

This is Sheena Easton‘s “Shockwave” - an apparently “lost” album that was supposed to be after “Do You” in 1985 and before “No Sound But A Heart” in 1987. Regarded as “The Holy Grail” by fans, it has circled around through bootlegged recordings and these recording were considered some of her best songs she had done. And, after listening to the whole album when it came out, I do have to agree!

Of course, I only knew Sheena Easton through “Strut” and her biggest hit “Morning Train (9 to 5).” so to hear her let loose on this dance–pop, R&B was awesome and really showed why she was a big star in the 1980s.

This release also features single versions of “Young Hearts Run Free,” “Rhythm of Romance,” and “Don’t Wake Me Up From My Dreams” with an alternative version of “Sweet Talker.”

Born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana, I’d like to wish a very special “Happy Heavenly Birthday” to the King Of Pop - Michael Jackson!

To say that this man has had a strong influence on me growing up would be a massive understatement. I remember I went through a whole MJ phase in high school. I used to tape a blue duct tape armband around the sleeve of a white button-up shirt and make believe that I was wearing the smooth criminal jacket. I even remember performing the HIStory Tour mix of “Stranger In Moscow” for a school talent show.

His music single-handedly changed the face of Pop music as we know it and, still to this day, he is regarded as one of the greatest artists of all time.

Also, I chose this photo specifically because next month with be this short film’s 40th anniversary release.
