Instruction for Scottish Highland Dancing provided by Kelsey (Crane) Deklerk. Kelsey is a 4 time United States champion from West Jordan, UT. She has been dancing and competing for 18 years and has won over 200 competitions and championships. She has placed in many prestigious competitions throughout Canada, the U.S., Ireland, and Scotland. In 2006, Kelsey passed her teachers exam and has been ins

tructing students since that time. Since then she has relocated to Taylorsville where she is now instructing dancers from around the Salt Lake Valley.

We are still reeling with happiness over our U.S. Championship week. These dancers gave it their all over 4 consecutive days of grueling competitions. I'm so proud of all the hard work and dedication they put in to dance on stage with the best competition in the country.

I'm so proud of these girls for all the growth and dedication I've seen over this past year. There are so many moments from each dancer that I could tell to demonstrate what incredible dancers and mature competitors they are. But at the end of the day, it's their friendships and cherished comradery that makes these moments so rewarding.

Congratulations to our dancers on placements for all 12 competitors over the week. Broadsword placements, and making it through the week, including the unwanted decision of pulling from some dances on the 4th day because of strained legs.

A special congratulations to our reps at the U.S. championships, first on qualifying to represent an incredible Northwest Region. Savannah, for repping for the very first time and holding her own on that stage and overcoming nerves to enjoy the moment. Jay, on winning 2nd runner up, and staying incredibly positive, even through some disappointing mistakes. Caroline for some of her best dancing in a fabulous group. For showing us what it looks like to love what you do. Jane for a 3rd running up finish and making amazing improvements on her goals. Mairi on a 3rd runner up finish, after a year of incredible dedication and growth that was impossible to miss on stage. Annie for a 2nd runner up finish after her first ever placements at the u.s. championships. Again, showing off her dedication over the past year on the largest stage in the country. And to Maddie for a 4th runner up finish on her first ever callbacks at USIR as well. Her presence and power couldn't be missed because of all she has done to prepare for this moment. To the various team of teachers between these dancers Heather Overright, Heather McLean, Erin McMaster Gunn, thank you!

All of these girls earned every award and accolade they earned. Great job to everyone! Thank you to the teachers
, Erin Gunn, and parents involved in our studio that help to make this week happen and help support our dancers! And thank you to the Dallas team for such a memorable and fun USIR. We had a blast!
