We couldn’t fly to Israel for my niece’s wedding. The war had closed the skies. When it became clear her celebrations weren’t going to happen the way she’d pictured, she was heartbroken — and her parents couldn’t bear to let that be the ending.
She’d been planning it all from the other side of the world. I took her vision and got as close as I could to everything she’d already booked. Two weeks — that’s what we had to plan her henna. The textiles, the candlelight, the outfits, the trays of dates and almonds, the color palette that had to feel like home even though we were an ocean away from it. No long runway, no months of sourcing. Just instinct, a few late nights, and a family determined to make her feel celebrated exactly as she deserved.
What we learned: the most meaningful moments aren’t always the ones with the most time behind them. They’re the ones made with the most love.
She was radiant. The room was full. And for one night, the distance didn’t matter at all.
