Second Hand Wedding Dress Bent Corset Boning

I’m a little stressed right now because my wedding is in 19 days. Basically I got my wedding dress off FB Marketplace & when I took it to a seamstress to get some things fixed I asked her about replacing the boning because it had a bend line. She said that it should be fine after pressing & that I shouldn’t need it replaced. Well now after trying on again the boning has gone right back to having the bend in it. I got the dress cleaned last week & asked the lady who cleaned it about it & she said that even after pressing it again it will go right back to having that bend in the boning after sitting down. I’m so frustrated. I’ve should’ve just gone with my gut & asked the seamstress to replace it anyway. Is this something that I should try get fixed before my wedding or is it not that bad??

Starting to hate my dress

Fell in love with the Bon Bride Grace Corset gown and felt pressured by the trunk show to buy it at a discount on the last day. I thought I’d be saving myself $500, but now I realized I might hate how simple it is and buying a new dress might put me out thousands of dollars.

At first, I fell in love with the fact that you can tie the sides for a second look. After careful thought and inspection, I realized I don’t think the skirt will be as poofy once we hem the skirt to my height. And the bodice might not be giving the WOW factor I had hoped. I also saw so many comments on wedding subreddits and tiktoks that weren’t so impressed with this dress on other women in their dress searching journey and it really got to my head.

Do you think it’s possible to zhuzh it up with off the shoulder sleeves and a tulle underskirt with a really talented tailor? Or should I listen to my brain telling me I need a new dress? I’m worried about the regret I might feel choosing a boring dress for such a momentous day.

To line or not to line?

I’ve had the hardest time deciding if I want to line my dress or not. I originally thought I would line it because I wasn’t sure how I felt about the visible boning. But i like that you can see the lace details so much better in the unlined version. So I need you guys tell me which version you like better and why? Also let me know if you like my dress🤭

Should I find a new dress?

I love everything about this dress, except the top fold / layer on the skirt. Was originally thinking I could remove the fold, but then realized there was a middle pleat. Ideally I’d have a smooth skirt or at least pleats that weren’t exactly in the center.

Is there anyway that this could be achieved or should I keep looking? I was hoping to make a decision soon given my wedding is in nine months.

I hate the straps

I added straps to Thai strapless dress and I hate them. I want to remove them but I am not sure if it would hold well.

My Tailor tightened the top and added boning to the middle and strapa all at the same time so I am not sure if they are lifting the dress or if it would hold without them

Also can I just tuck them in or do I risk them showing out

What Is Going On With These Dress Alterations?

My dress looked ok at my final dress fitting (first photo) but when I tried it on later that day, it really does not fit me at all in the back. Lots of extra fabric and is not giving me a very nice silhouette.

Does anyone know what needs to be changed here to get it to fit well? My seamstress had to take the bust and waist in 4 sizes, but she didn’t touch the hip/lower half of the dress. She initially said that the zipper is doing that because the lining is a stretchy fabric, and I need to pull it down. Pulling the dress down does nothing. I’m kind of stressing about this because my wedding is 2 weeks away.

Found my dress! And it’s completely different from what I thought I’d get!

Went in trying on all the poofy, glittery, sparkly, big lace dresses. This one caught my eye because of the neckline so I figured to try it on too. I never expected it beforehand, but I loved the elegant silhouette!! The lines on the bodice made me feel like a classical Greek statue lol! I had the cliche moment of getting a bit emotional - so I knew this was the one :)

On the first pic the sales lady made the top a bit more narrow, I like it on the last photo where it’s more wide. What do you prefer?
