First, meet Margarita Carillo Arronte.

Just in time for the DAY OF THE DEAD, Mexico: The Cookbook by Margarita Carrillo Arronte features an unprecedented 700 recipes from across the entire country, beautifully illustrated with 200 full color photographs.

Margarita Carrillo Arronte is one of Mexico's best-known chefs and promoters of culture. She is a TV personality, restaurateur, ice cream company entrepreneur, and leader of the Slow Food Movement in Baja.

She served as culinary ambassador for the Ministry of Agriculture (from 1996 to 2006), and led a movement to have traditional Mexican cuisine be recognized with a UNESCO ntangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity designation.

Then, welcome Helen Rosner, features editor at Eater National! national features editor of Eater.com, and a contributing editor at the award-winning food and travel magazine Saveur, where she previously served as executive digital editor.

She has been an editor of Grub Street, the online restaurant editor for New York Magazine, the co-founding editor of the culinary culture blog EatMeDaily.com, and a cookbook editor.

Her writing and photography—on matters mostly, but not entirely, related to food and drink—can be found in publications including Saveur, Eater, New York Magazine, Refinery 29, Medium, Buzzfeed, and the Hairpin.

Today on Foodtalk, meet Francine Bryson, national pie champion and finalist on CBS’s The American Baking Competition!

Francine shares her sought-after recipes and tips in her first book, Blue Ribbon Baking from a Redneck Kitchen, on sale September 9, 2014.

In 2012, Francine entered the National Pie Championships in Celebration, Florida. She won first place in the Raisin category for her “White Chocolate Raisin Nut Pie”. She also took home a second place award in the Apple category with her “Mama Flipped it and I Helped, Apple Pecan Pie”.

She placed third in the 2013 American Pie Council Crisco National Pie Championships with her On The Beach Key Lime Chocolate Heaven Pie.

She has had over eight million requests for her Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon Pie recipe.
