Mashups as a gateway drug to breaks?  As I approach 20 years of hosting Frosted Breaks, the one thing that made this show different from early on were the live mashups. Something polarizing probably, since you are putting pop music over top of underground sounds.
Here’s how it started.. Years back, both my daughters were in dance. The owner of the studio quickly enlisted me to do custom music for their competitions. She had ideas of multiple songs she wanted in a single 2-3 minute routine. And in putting those together in an interesting way, I collected a mass of acappellas. Which quickly found their way onto the weekly show.
These days, the better mashup highlights from my weekly show end up on my TikTok. So give me a follow if you like mashup nonsense over broken beats.
