Well the American Royal World Series of Barbecue is in the books! This one was special for multiple reasons. We had some great neighbors with SuperSwine BBQ being right next door, the dessert was 🔥🔥! This was our fifth year competing there so to get the 5 year banner was a pretty cool thing for us. One of our dear friends and mentors Donny Teel was inducted into the Hall of Fame Saturday night. Donny has meant so much to so many people and we are thrilled we get to call him and Cyndi friends! Couldn’t think of a more deserving person for the hall of fame! This was also our first AR canopy cook. No trailer just us and nature😂. Once the weather moved it it became difficult for everyone. Saturday was the invitational (157 grand champions from all over the world) we thought we had a really good cook and finished really well in 3 of the 4 meats….pork getting a rough score kept us out of the top 15 but we still managed a 35th overall finish in an absolutely stacked field. Sunday the weather turned even worse and it was a real challenge and I think it got in my head. We didn’t have a good cook, and the scores reflected that. We did get a solid 177.7 pork score on Sunday (if only 24 hours before 😂) . We loaded up and left after turn ins choosing to listen to awards in the truck with a heater! The Royal is always the greatest contest and spectacle in BBQ and we enjoyed being there! Congrats to everyone who heard their name!! A huge thank you to my father in law Jeep Scott for helping all weekend, couldn’t ask for better help (should have let him cook the turkey this year 😂)
With that brings this year to an end. We aren’t sure what next season looks like for us or if we will even compete. Tons of things going on in our near future. We had a blast and we will see what the future holds!
