As if it were not honor enough that people attended the show, you've already seen Adrienne's great pictures, and now I've just received a remarkable album from Gerry Gee, an amazing Syracuse photographer who was there in the person of E.A. Hegg, renowned Yukon photographer. (He was the man in the tall hat.) I'll post them here as quickly as I can. Tell others who were there but won't get this post.

Last minute directions to FOR BRAVE MEN AND ADVENTUROUS WOMEN:

This Saturday, September 22 -- FOUR DAYS AWAY! -- 7pm. Come early for seats at the round tables.

Don't Google St. Clare's Theater, it's name is known to only about four people, and the only address on the web is for the back door on Townsend St. Google or GPS "Assumption Church" on North Salina St. If you're coming out of Syracuse on North Salina, about a mile out of town the street turns left about 20 degrees. After you make that turn, you'll see two huge red towers on the horizon, on the right (east) side of the street, fully a hundred feet higher than any other building around. Go 20 feet past that big red church and turn into the driveway on your right (that is, left of the church). There's a ONE WAY sign pointing your way in. The theater is straight in front of you as you enter the parking lot. See the PHOTO (Photos link above) for an overhead photo of that street.

Those of you who haven't yet selected a costume might find this useful: a Christmas party in 1898. Generally, everyone covered their arms and legs -- and heads! -- completely. Men did not remove their jacket in the presence of women other than their wives; string, bow, and long ties were all used; hats were bowlers, derbies, mounties', cowpunchers', Russian immigrants'. Women wore their hair up, and if they worked in the saloon their neckline was low, they wore pearls and a tall feather or comb in their hair, and heavy rouge and powder. Most town women dressed plainly, as you see here, with no makeup.

This may give some ideas. Women's hHair was long, might be up, pearls and elaborate hairpins. Men wore four-button jackets, with the top button buttoned first, and a variety of hats.
