Talk about EPIC!!

We ended Hannah and Hayden's bridal session at Ririe Reservoir right at sunset and boy did the light deliver! The wind was definitely working in our favor too. I will never get over this sweet session. Check the blog for even more perfection!!

This one's for the Dads! In honor of Father's Day, I've shared 10 ideas on How to Include Dad in Your Wedding Day - it's on the blog now!
But for the TLDR. The most important thing I want Dads and their son or daughter to know is this: Creating these special moments together on a wedding day requires intentionality. Wedding days go FAST, and they often feel hectic or stressful. Be intentional in those little moments you do get to share together. During a First Dance, I hope Dads are present and laughing and talking with their daughter. I hope they really cherish this day and take time to soak it all in. Make space to reflect on all the momoments you have shared together and that have led to this day!

Wanna know the BEST time to take your senior photos? I'll tell you a secret: it's NOT the spring of graduation....it's actually the summer or fall before your senior year!

Why? Here in Southeastern Idaho, early spring still means brown, lifeless backgrounds and unpredictable weather. If you want VIBRANT colors, warm skin tones and pops of beautiful light, just like Paige's session at Kelly Canyon, then you need late summer or early fall. Not to mention, often times the yearbook has a deadline much earlier than spring to get those special senior photos in.

Bottom line: Don't wait to take your senior photos until Spring! Do them early for the best chance of color, good weather, and enjoying those photos through the whole senior year.

It’s FAMILY FRIDAY! On the blog today is the Wright family session that we took in Swan Valley, close to their stunning venue .estate. It’s beautiful there and if you haven’t checked it out, you need too! This family session had my heart feeling so full. And that golden glow, doesn’t get much better!

For today’s family Friday, I wanted to share what we did last summer and are doing again this year to help give summer a little extra magic! Summer with little kids can feel a little daunting and last year as we knew we’re going to be navigating grief as well as entertaining kids all summer, we knew we needed some extra help to make sure we didn’t get stuck in a rut. Enter the summer fun list.

We sit down around the table and everyone tries to come up with fun things we should do during the summer. I add in things that will be simple and easy to do and others that might take a little bit more planning. Then we decorate it and hang it up in our kitchen! At the beginning of a week, I would try and make plans with the boys for what we could do that week based off what the weather was looking like. Lately I have been reflecting on the question: What do I want my business to be known for? I've realized that, while my motivation behind Michelle & Logan Photography has shifted and grown throughout the years, the most important aspect for me is to create, capture, and build GENUINE relationships in families and marriages. I want to create images that will be treasured in a way that feels fun, less stressful, and memorable. Of course I still love a good Looking at the Camera photo, but I want my sessions to reflect how a family would act in a daily situation. I cherish our home being filled with play and it only makes sense that my family sessions should feel the same way for them too!

Starting something new on here. Family Fridays! I’ll share something that is working for us, a game or product we love, that kind of thing!

We recently went to Hawaii for me to take some photos and turned it into a family trip! Before we left, we bought the and an underwater case for it because we wanted the boys to take pictures of whatever they felt like was special, cool, or really whatever. It was so fun to see them excited to use it.

One of Logan’s favorite memories from the trip was Jai going out to snorkel and asking if he could take the camera out to take pictures of the fish. He went out all by himself (where we could easily get to him) found some fish and snapped away.

We looked at all the pictures together as a family and the boys took turns telling (basically yelling in excitement) about what was in the picture. There were lots of duplicates, blurry shots, fingers in front of the camera, but it was so fun to see the trip from their eyes.

Please scroll to the last photo to see the photo that had us all laughing so hard. That poor guy doesn’t even know that he will forever live on in our Hawaii memories 😂

If you’re interest in getting your kids a camera, I loved that it was digital and screen free! The kids felt special and we have some fun photos that we took too!

Year after year, this family has found their way in front of my camera for family photos and every year is more fun than the the year before. I always ask Ryan and Sydal to write us a manual on parenting because Logan and I both just love the relationship they have with their kids. Our plan last year had been spring blossoms and we all know how spring went in southeast Idaho last year. But then I had found this location and we found ourselves surrounded by summertime wildflowers and it could not have been any more perfect! See more from this session on the blog!!

We spread a blanket out today and had a picnic lunch in the front yard. Jai told me it was the best lunch he’s ever had. I’m pretty sure it was just the sunshine and warm weather talking but if that makes him think peanut butter and honey sandwiches, Cheetos, and fruit is the best thing ever, I’ll call that a win for the day.

This sweet family is on the blog! One reason I love extended families sessions is all the different groupings and seeing all the different family relationships. It’s so fun!!
